On Dec. 17, Las Vegas's 12-year-old Wynn Golf Club closed. Some — including the man who conceived of and built it, casino and hotel magnate Steve Wynn — say it simply outlived its usefulness. Others, citing its outrageous price tag of $350-$500, argued that Wynn epitomized what was wrong with golf.
Osbourne Ward, owner and president of the Centreville track, said in an interview on Friday that he will assume operational control of 14 Wing Greenwood golf club, which was supposed to close for good in October.
Al Hamra Group, one of the largest real estate developers in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has partnered with leading golf course management company Troon International to provide full management services to Al Hamra Golf Club.
Raleigh-based McConnell Golf plans to spend $3.2 million on Providence Country Club to renovate the golf course and clubhouse. McConnell has already spent $1.8 million on improvements at Providence Country Club after closing on the purchase in February 2016. When complete, the changes will total more than $5 million, says McConnell CEO John McConnell.

After considerable research, consultation from industry experts and member feedback, we embarked upon this evolutionary process to save our club.”
Casper Golf will oversee oversee golf operations as well as The Island’s restaurant, pool, tennis and fitness facilities. The company will guide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training, merchandising, food and beverage, golf instruction and financial management for The Island’s 160-acre course.
The Naples Golf and Country Club (NGCC) announced the news about the company in a press release, saying that this decision was inevitable — given the past seasons’ revenue reduction and national trends indicating golf play is on the decline.
The Virginia Beach Development Authority has approved the sale of nearly 70 acres of a former golf course and $1.8 million in incentives to a company that plans to build “green” batteries.
The purchase price has been kept under wraps. The club, which was in financial dire straits and at risk of shutting down, was listed most recently for $2.6 million by the Murphy Realty Group. The original asking price was $3.5 million.
